5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bike..., March 19, 2009

We bought this bike for our 11 year old son, even though the box states from 6-11 years old. I think it would be a bit large for a 6 year old. This bike seems to be more appropriate for 9-15 year olds. The bike has a great graphic design on the middle section. It can hold 200 pounds. I think this is a great buy for a preteen and teenagers. It also had the extra bars for the ride-ons.

2.0 out of 5 stars breaking, September 11, 2010
A Kid's Review
I got this bike and in under a month the pedals were breaking. In a month they broken so bad it was unridible. I bought new pedals and they didnt fit. Those pedals were the same size as every pair of high quality pedals. So if you want some good pedals you need new cranks that fit which usualy cost up to $50. I prefer not getting this bike if you dont want to pay an extra 50+ dollars in repair.

Pacific Exploit Girls' Mountain Bike (24-Inch Wheels)

Product Description

With a top tube that runs parallel to the down tube, the Pacific Exploit Girls’ 24-Inch Mountain Bike is obviously designed for teenaged girls. It is connected to the seat tube at the latter’s lower section. The frame of the bike is constructed with steel with a geometry designed specifically for mountain biking. Mounted in the head tube is a suspension fork that absorbs the shock of running on rugged terrain resulting to better control. This also eliminates, or at least minimizes, the numbed feeling in your hands after riding over bumpy and jagged trails. The grips on the handlebar double as gear shifters. These are Torque Drive shifters that smoothly and easily move the chain from one sprocket to the next when up- or down-shifting. This allows you to keep up with your fellow riders whether climbing hills or running on flat terrain. The one-piece crankset has three sprockets while the cassette has six thus providing 18 gear ratios. With this number of ratios, there is definitely one that is appropriate for any type of terrain, whether flat, moderate climb, or a steep climb. The Torque Drive rear derailleur together with the grip shifters assures precise and prompt gear shifting. Steel linear pull brakes provide the Pacific Exploit Girls’ 24-Inch Mountain Bike with a safe and responsive braking system that is sure to stop the bike quickly even in emergencies. These incorporate brake pads that do not slip as they grip the rim of the wheels.

  • Girls' mountain bike with hard-tail steel MTB frame and suspension fork for smooth riding
  • 18-speed drivetrain with Torque Drive rear derailleur and one-piece MTB crank
  • Torque Drive twist grip shifters for easy operation
  • Steel linear pull brakes for sure stopping power
  • 24-inch steel wheels with knobby tires

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointed - Design Flaws - Poor craftsmanship, December 23, 2010

This review is from: Pacific Exploit Girl's Bike (Sports)
The price is good; but, and these are big BUTS!

Let me preface this by saying, I have ridden for many years with a bike club. I have also been a bike mechanic and have worked on all sorts of bikes from high end carbon fiber road bikes, to aluminum frame, chrome-moly, and good old fashion steel bikes.

I have put together many off the rack production bikes. This one by far is the worst.

DESIGN FLAW:
The geometry of the bike is such that the crank arms and pedals place are only 3 inches from the front tire. This 3 inches is WITHOUT your feet in position. For a normal 12 year old child, and I measured this, their shoe front is JUST 1/2 INCH AWAY FROM THE FRONT TIRE!!! This has disaster written all over it. I mean what child can ride in perfect foot position. The only fix for this is toe clip cage. Most 12 year old children can't ride with toe clip cages, or will not use them.

CRAFTSMANSHIP:
Each of the rims for the tires were... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Functional, March 14, 2010

This bicycle has a major design flaw. The front wheel is too close to the pedals. Everytime my daughter (who is only 52" tall) turned the wheel, her feet hit the front tire. Very unnerving for a 9-year-old.

Amazon was great about it. They paid for return shipping and we got a better bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Assembly Costly, January 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Although the bike's initial cost was quite reasonable, it cost me almost that same amount to complete assembly. Around $80 bucks to make sure everything was assembled and calibrated properly. Once done, it's a real cool bike.
